HOW WE HELP YOU
At Focus Osteopathy we provide a non-invasive, gentle and holistic form of health care to assist in improving your overall health. By changing the body’s focus we aim to improve the overall function of your body.
We use a variety of techniques including structural, visceral and cranial osteopathy.
Osteopaths diagnose faults within the body’s structure and function, particularly the spine and associated muscles, ligaments, nerves and organs which may be causing pain and restricting everyday activity.
The main strength of osteopathy lies in the unique way the patient is assessed from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint and the manual methods of treatment applied to suit the needs of the individual patient.
WHAT TO EXPECT
It is recommended you bring relevant ACC details and/or x-rays with you where appropriate.
After your discussion you may be asked to remove outer layers of clothing to view your spine, pelvis, ribs and joints. You may be asked to perform a series of movements to ascertain if part of your spine or joints have restricted mobility, or if tension is present through your muscles.
After a treatment
You may feel tired and need to rest. You should notice some relief, however you may experience an increase in pain for 24 to 48 hours. This occurs because the body sometimes continues to adjust itself to the realignment that has occurred during treatment.
